GOTV Walk/Call Lists, PC Strategy Work, Govern your party

Interim Action!

Many new visitors to Precinct California are arriving to our pages after the February 12th, 2010 filing period has closed. Unless you conduct an unlikely write-in campaign, there is little or no chance to be seated on your local Central Committee via primary ballot election.

Does that mean that you are out of options? No! You have many options to assist in the effort, and exercising those options is important!

Direct Appointment: if there is a current vacancy on your committee, you can ask to fill it! Contact your county chair and/or your district chair - you may need to establish a track record as a hard worker before you actually get the appointment, but you would have to do that anyway! Make the contact and find out what it takes. If you go this route, remember that appointees can be UNappointed... you may not have all the freedoms as a committee member or delegate that you might have if you gained your seat via the normal route - you may have obligations instead. But at least you will accrue major name recognition so that your run next time will be much easier.

Alternate Delegate: you can become appointed to your CC as an alternate delegate.

To do this, get acquainted with the Central Committee Chair for your district and get acquainted with him or her. Ask for an appointment as an alternate -- in the case where an existing CC member dies, resigns, moves, or otherwise becomes unavailable, your alternate appointment can carry the full authority of the member you are substituting for.
